reCOMPOSE 015: New Sony Gear

As many of you know, Andy and Juan are Sony mirrorless shooters. Recently we have both received the newly released Sony 100-400 lens together with the Sony 1.4 Teleconverter, and as discussed in a previous episode, Juan also recently received the new Sony a9 camera. In this episode we discuss our impressions and tests, yes tests, on all of this new gear, and share with you our real world experience. Typically we do not shoot test charts to evaluate a lens, we go with our experience, but in this case Juan did shoot a test chart to verify what he was seeing in his in-the-field tests.

We don’t always have all the answers, but if we don’t we will research it and try to give you the best answer we can. So what have you got to lose, go ahead and send in your questions to us at contact@recompose.photo.

reCOMPOSE 014: Camera Support

Camera support is critical for great images! Sure we shoot lots handheld, but every day we’re out in the field we are using our tripods. No other piece of gear beyond our cameras and lenses is as important to making great images as our tripods. In this episode we discuss at length what features to look for in a great tripod, and we briefly discuss other support systems.

We don’t always have all the answers, but if we don’t we will research it and try to give you the best answer we can. So what have you got to lose, go ahead and send in your questions to us at contact@recompose.photo.

reCOMPOSE 005: State of the industry and Mirrorless vs DSLR

In the past few weeks we have seen a some signs of distress on our industry starting with the news of Nikon suffering some pretty staggering losses and most recently, we have seen a report from LensVid about the state of the photo industry in General.

Plus as you folks may know both of us I made the switch to mirrorless cameras two years ago and still to this day we get many questions as to why, so we thought we would discuss again the many reasons why we both have independently chosen to go mirrorless.

We don’t always have all the answers, but if we don’t we will research it and try to give you the best answer we can. So what have you got to lose, go ahead and send in your questions to us at contact@recompose.photo.
